Who we are

Akru (“Akru,” “we,” “us”) provides detention-fee recovery software and services to trucking carriers. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

• Account data — your name, email, company name, DOT/MC numbers, and password (stored hashed).
• Load & stop data — load numbers, shippers, origins/destinations, appointment and rate-confirmation details you enter or import.
• ELD / telematics data — with your authorization, read-only arrival and departure timestamps and related hours-of-service/location data pulled from your connected ELD provider (e.g. Samsara, Motive) solely to detect and document detention.
• Payment data — handled by our payment processor; we do not store full card or bank numbers.
• Usage data — standard logs and device/usage information to operate and secure the service.

How we use it

To detect detention, generate evidence-backed invoices, send them to shippers as your agent (you remain the creditor and are paid directly), provide support, and secure and improve the service. We do not sell your personal information.

Service providers

We share data only with vendors that help us run the service, under contract — including our database/hosting, payment processing (Stripe), transactional email (Resend), optional SMS (Twilio), AI document parsing for rate confirmations, and your chosen ELD provider. Each receives only what it needs to perform its function.

Sharing with shippers

To recover detention, we send invoices and supporting evidence (such as ELD timestamps) to the shipper or broker responsible for the load, on your behalf.

Retention, security & your rights

We retain data for as long as your account is active and as needed for legal, accounting, and dispute purposes, then delete or anonymize it. We use industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit and access controls. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data by contacting us; some records may be retained where required by law.
